Manage Firm Dictionary

The Manage Firm Dictionary page is where you can manage the translations of the Lucernex user interface. If you have enabled your browser to translate Lucernex, your browser will provide the initial translation. The firm dictionary then overrides the translations of any content that you provide a translation for.

Please keep in mind:

Some words that are used in English may have more than one meaning.

Example: close (meaning nearby) vs. close (to shut something)
Industry-specific terms may not be able to be translated.
Industry-specific terms may use words that don't have a literal translation.

Example: "Shallow" is used to describe trenches in construction, but does not have a direct translation in French.

We recommend the following:

Consult with a technical translator in your destination language.
Consult with a subject matter expert in your destination language.

To navigate to the Manage Firm Dictionary page:

Select Admin in the toolbar in the upper-right corner of the window.

The System Administrator Dashboard page opens.
Click Manage Firm Dictionary link in the Company Administration column.

The Manage Firm Dictionary page opens.
Follow a procedure below.

Upload New Dictionary

To upload a new dictionary:

Do one of the following:
- Select the Remove all option to remove all current translations and replace the removed translations with the translations in your new dictionary.
- Select the Append current translation phrases option to upload the new translations in your dictionary and replace any translations that might already exist.
  
  This option is selected by default.
Click Browse.

A file explorer window opens.
Select your dictionary file.
Upload the dictionary file.
Click Upload New Dictionary.

The system uploads your file. Once the process is complete, you will get a success message.

Download Current Dictionary

To download your current firm dictionary:

Select the option you want:
- All phrases (global and firm specific): Download all fields, including client-created fields.
- Firm specific phrases: Download only client-created fields.
- Firm specific phrases not translated: Download only client-created fields that have not been translated.
  
  This is selected by default.
- All phrases translated by company: Download fields that are translated by Lucernex.
In For Language, select the languages that you want to download dictionaries for.
Click Download Current Dictionary.

The download process starts. Once it is complete, your computer asks if you want to open or save the file.
Save your firm dictionary to a place you will easily be able to find it.

Name your dictionary in such a way that it is easy to understand what kind of file it is.

Firm Dictionary Spreadsheet

There are four default columns in the Firm Dictionary spreadsheet. Each language you select in step 3 of the Download Current Dictionary steps above will have its own column.

The table below describes the columns in the Firm Dictionary spreadsheet.
